Rakesh Chopra, the founder of Telecon Systems can be best described as a go-getter, philanthropist, and visionary, who is an entrepreneur’s par excellence. He is armed with the Electronics & Communication Engineering degree and more than 38 years of amazing experience in Instrumentation & Automation.
Astik Chopra is the second leading face of the Telecon System. He is the man behind the triumphs of the corporation, from where it began; he completely transformed Telecon Systems in the field of automation and IoT for water infra applications.
The core business of Telecon has been Designing, Supply and Installation and
Commissioning of Instrumentation, automation and IOT/ICT systemstill 2014 since
inception in 1992. Since 2014, it has also been focusing on Automation and IoT
Solutions and has executed many projects involving PLC and SCADA Systems in
Drinking Water Distribution Schemes and Micro Irrigation Projects and Hydro Power
projects and smart city applications. It has designed and successfully commissioned
India’s first Early Warning System for Flash Floods in Himachal Pradesh in 2016. Many
more such systems have been installed since then by the company. These systems
extensively use the latest state of art IOT & IT techniques. They have set up a specialised
team to enter into the field of ICT based disaster management solutions like cyclone and
tsunami warning, flood forecasting,
monitoring and warning and customised applications for Smart cities.
Telecon Systems has been focusing on the timely completion of the work. The attention
is mainly given on completing the job safely while maintaining quality standards.
Cutting corners to generate additional profits is always avoided. Quality & Safety have
been the mainstay and have always assured the team to sustain business relationships
with customers.
Initially, the multi-discipline Engineering Company, Telecon Systems was established as a small business idea but in 1997-1998 the larger business came in their way when they entered in Petrochem and Nuclear Power sectors. They also introduced automation solutions for Barrage Automation, Water Treatment Plants and Electrical Systems.
Field services occupied the center stage till 2014 when they introduced automation solutions and also went out in pursuit of overseas business opportunities. In the year 2016, they included IOT & IT for offering more advanced automation solutions.
They set up a state of art Calibration Lab for Pressure & Temperature in 2012 and were awarded NABL accreditation. Telecon Systems is one of the very few companies in India who have NABL accreditation for both Lab & site application & also have teams for field services.
Today, the world is passing through a period of economic recession but Indian Govt. has opened the doors of PSUs and other Govt. organizations for Indian companies by floating huge requirements of infrastructure projects and up-gradation of existing facilities. Huge funds are available for projects in Drinking Water, Sewage treatment and rivers/canals. Smart cities are opening up another big avenue for Indian vendors. Indian companies should upgrade their technologies and skills to be competitive against foreign suppliers. The service sector is offering a huge opportunity for Indian Service Providers since Indian technical manpower is much cheaper than the overseas manpower.
The major factor behind the success of the company has been excellent teamwork. Many of the team members are with the company for more than 10 years. Few of these have contributed more than 20 years of their life for the growth of Telecon Systems. The entire team of Telecon Systems is like a family sharing together moments of glory & gloom. Personalized relations are maintained with each and every.
Astik Chopra proudly shares, “our company was assessed by ABB- Germany & Siemens Germany for work procedures and compliance to safe work practices. Both of them approved us and awarded big overseas contracts. Telecon Systems has also been awarded many times for safe work practices by Unilever, L&T & Siemens. Siemens India & Unilever South East Asia has given us the status of preferred Instrumentation Contractor for their projects in this region.”
Telecon System is targeting more modern business areas and also adding new products in the basket. They have registered their company in Abu Dhabi and Iraq to penetrate the Middle East Asian market and have already marked their presence in over 15 countries by successfully implementing projects for various line of trades.
